Review of Bigger Box of Fabulous Subscription by Sew Fabulous Fabrics

The lovely Vicky from Sew Fabulous Fabrics kindly gifted me the Bigger box of fabulous which is a great if you want to make bigger more complex projects and love the idea of creating your own library of modern bag patterns. It includes:

The equivalent of 2 full metres of premium 100% cotton designer fabric, which is more than enough to complete the enclosed project. This might be 4 half metres or a different combination, dependant on the pattern. I received such beautiful cotton prints of the Legendary collection by Art Gallery Fabrics which are just lush!

A quality universal sewing thread that conforms to Oeko-Tex 100 standards, which means it is certified as free from all harmful substances. These thread was lovely to sew with as my Mr Singer can be a bit of snob with threads where he normally likes gutermann threads ?

Selected items of haberdashery to enhance your sewing, which will either be a practical item, such as some machine needles, or a beautiful item like some buttons. I received these cute sewing charms.

An extra item to help you complete your project, such as an item of bag hardware. I received a magentic bag clasp which was ideal.

A modern project or bag pattern by a well known designer. In this box I’ve received the 241 Tote by Noodlehead patterns.

It took me a while to decide on which fabric to use for which part of the bag as they are all so scrumptious!

So with careful placement of the pieces i was quite happy that the big pattern print was in the centre of the bag. I used my tailors chalk to mark the darts.

The instructions booklet was easy to follow and with extra help available online with the links provided in the instructions.

So once I had all the different components of the bag made it soon came together quickly.

I thought putting in a magnetic clasp and inner pocket would be hard work but with the instructions it was a breeze! I used my seam ripper to make the holes for the clasp to go into and used my trusty FriXion pen for marking and soon rubs off.

The scary moment to see if you have sewn the bag correctly when ‘bagging’ out the lining…

Success! so i top stitched around the bag opening!!

No bag is complete without a Kylie and the machine label.

So here she is in all of her glory and she is pretty roomy too!

Thanks again Vicky for letting me review your subscription box. It is really good value and its great if you don’t know where to start with bag making like me!

Happy Sewing!
