My Entry to the Best Newcomer Simplicity Star Sewist! Ekkk!!

Good morning everyone!

Sorry I’ve been missing in action for the past month we have been redesigning the kitchen and that unfortunately it took precedence over my sewing!

Here’s the Brief and the Pattern I had used which was supplied by them, where you can buy the pattern here:

Choosing a sewing pattern that is simple to complete, Simplicity’s It’s So Easy 2286 sewing pattern, is a perfect choice for any novice who has been sewing and blogging for less than a year and is looking to showcase their skills.
This basic skirt should only take an intermediate sew-er a couple of hours to complete, leaving plenty of scope for hours’ worth of embellishments to turn this stunning staple into a sensational, stand out statement piece.

So with much thinking and trying to decide on what fabric to use, here is my entry to Best Newcomer Simplicity’s Star Sewist.

I’ve used a lovely Japanese Import Cotton from Fabric Inspirations and thought i would go for a cute nautical theme look with my skirt.

I thought outside of the box for a change and used a lovely Red Cotton for the Contrast Waistband and added secret side pockets into the skirt as i am not a fan of the outer pockets like you could add to the skirt from the pattern and to say it was first attempt at side pockets they went in a dream! And of course i had to add one of my Anchor buttons in there to complete the nautical theme!

Overall the pattern was simple to use and you can soon knock together a skirt in no time at all

So i am very pleased of the end result of the skirt, i will  be wearing it when me and the hubby go on our minicruise to Bruges this weekend!

Ta ta for now!
